SOTA - Summits on the Air

SOTA is an award scheme for radio amateurs that encourages portable operation in mountainous areas.

What is SOTA ?  Most radio hams will be aware of the SOTA programme, it is fully operational in nearly a hundred countries across the world. Each country has its own Association which defines the recognised SOTA summits within that Association. Each summit earns the activators and chasers a score which is related to the height of the summit.

Although I started SOTA many years before, these pages details my SOTA activities during 2021, primarily in my home county of Cumbria and the Lake District National Park.  So with so many 'G/LD' summits on my 'doorstep' (or within a reasonable travelling distance')  it was time to get busy and out on the fells with some radio kit - when Covid-19 restrictions allowed.

Below are details of the summits activated during 2021, some summits were activated more than once, but are only listed once below.  My SOTA activities focused mostly on 2m FM and were primarily undertaken with my SOTA buddy, Nick G0HIK, who concentrated on the QO-100 satellite and 23cm and 13cm bands.  Thanks to everyone who came back to the CQ calls and my regular SOTA chasers.  Hope to catch you on another summit soon!
